Bascom Palmer Eye Institute provides vision screenings in Collier County’s low-income schools, aided by the addition of a Vision Van. Then, if medically appropriate, children also receive full eye exams and two pairs of glasses. When the need for tertiary care is detected, children are referred to an ophthalmologist for specialized care.
Volunteer ophthalmologists from Florida Lions Eye Clinic provide evaluations and tertiary care for children who are referred to their services.
